i am making a few more bags to holly jars as a gift for a friend. I had some left over Premier Home cotton yarn – color Water Lillies – from a prior project.
Round 1: I started with a magic circle. *3hdc in circle, ch 2, repeat from * 3 more times, sl st to join.
Round 2: ch 3 (counts as hdc, ch1), 2hdc in ch 2 in corner, ch 2, 3hdc in same corner, ch1, 3hdc ch 2 3hdc in next corner, ch1, 3hdc ch 2 3hdc in next corner, , ch1, 3hdc ch 2 3hdc in last corner, sl st to join in 2d ch of initial ch 3.
Here is the square base.
Round 4: ch 2 (serves as hdc), hdc in each st around. Join with initial ch2. 36 st
Round 5: ch 1, sc in next st, *ch 5, sk 4 st, sc in next st, repeat from * around ending with sc, join with sl st
Round 6: ch 5 (counts as dc ch 2), (sc 2dc sc) in ch5 space, (ch 5, sc, 2dc, sc) in each ch 5 space when reaching beginning point, ch 2 instead of 5 and sl st join to first ch 5
Round 7: ch 1, sc in next st, *ch 5, sc in next ch5 space, repeat from * around, after last ch5, sl st to join with beginning.
You can repeat round 6 and 7 to make the bag taller if you want. For the size bag I was making, it did not need to be higher. I found this out my making it taller and then pulling it all out.
round 8: ch1, sc in that st, sc around putting 4 sc in each ch5 space, and 1sc in each sc. 36 sc
Round 9: ch1, sc in 1st st, sc in next 9 sc, 25 ch, skip 9 st, sc in next 9 sc, ch 25, skip 9 sc, sc to start of round. Sl st to join.
Round 10: ch1, sc in 1st st, sc in next 8 sc, sc in the 25 ch space. I got 28 sc, but if they are tighter, you could get more. sc in next 8 sc, sc in the ch 25 space (again 28 sc) Sl st to join.
Fasten off and weave in any ends.
