2Bags for my Sister- patterns 480 and 343

For the Thanksgiving holiday, my older sister usually makes cranberry sauce. I decided to make some gift bags that would fit the jars she uses. This way she can use the gift bags when you gives out some of her canned cranberry sauce.

I started with some French Rose Bernat Handicrafter cotton yarn (no. 162013)[I am not sure if they make this color any more as I could not see it on their website] and an h-hook (of course).

This pattern uses a 2dc cluster which I have used before. This stitch is done as follows: yo, insert hook in next st, draw yarn through, yo, draw through 2 loops [just like you would for a dc). Instead of finishing the dc, yo, insert hook in next st, draw yarn through, yo, draw through 2 loops, yo, draw yarn through 3 loops.

Again, my starting magic circle was only with 5 sc. Sl st to join.

Row 1: Ch 1, 2sc in each st; sl st to join (10 st).

Row 2: ch 1, *2sc in first st, sc in next sc, repeat from * sl st to join. (15 st)

Row 3: ch 1, *2sc in first st, sc in each of the next 2 sc, repeat from * sl st to join. (20 st)

Row 4: ch 1, *sc in first st, sc in each of the next 3 sc, repeat from * sl st to join. (25 st)

Row 5: C1 1, sc in each st. Sl st to join (25 st)

Row 6:  ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1st st, dc in next stitch, *ch 3, skip 2 st, sc, ch 3, skip 2, dc in each of next three st, repeat from * until start, when you reach the start, it will be 2dc instead of 3, sl st to join.

Row 7: ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1st st, dc in next stitch, *ch 2. 2dc cluster in the two ch3 spaces – it starts in the first ch3 space and finishes in the other, ch2 2, dc in each of the 3 dcs, repeat from * to start, but it will end with 2dc not 3. Sl. st to join.

Row 8:  ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1st st, dc in next stitch, *ch 3, skip 2 st, sc in the 2dc cluster, ch 3, skip 2, dc in each of next three st, repeat from * until start, when you reach the start, it will be 2dc instead of 3, sl st to join.

Row 9:  ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1st st, dc in next stitch, *ch 2. 2dc cluster in the two ch3 spaces – it starts in the first ch3 space and finishes in the other, ch2 2, dc in each of the 3 dcs, repeat from * to start, but it will end with 2dc not 3. Sl. st to join.

Row 10: ch 1, sc around putting st in each sc and 2 sc in each ch 2 space. Add additional sc in last st so there are 26 stitches total. Sl st to join.

Row 11:Ch1, sc in each of next 3 st. Ch 15, skip 7 st, sc in next 6 st, ch 15, skip 7 st, sc in next 3 st, sl stitch to join

Row 12: ch 1, sc in each st and 15 sc in the 15 ch spaces working all around. Sl st to join. Fasten off and weave in any ends.

Here is the final product for this bag:

For the second bag, I used some cotton yarn that I still had a good portion of a cone left (potpourri ombre), which I have used before.

This particular patterns uses 2dctog, which the patterns calls a 2dc-puff. This one starts with a 5 sc magic circle. Here we go:

Start with a magic circle containing 5 sc.

Now for the pattern itself:

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in first st, *ch2, skip 2st, 2dctog, ch2, skip 2st, sc in next st, repeat from  * around the circle ending with sc. Sl st to join.

Row 7: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch2), *sc in the 2dctog skipping the st in between, ch5, repeat from * around circle. When you get to the end, you will only ch2 and end with a dc. sl st to join.

Row 8: ch1, sc in first st, *ch 2, skip to the sc between the ch-5’s and put a 2dctog there. ch2, sc in middle of the ch-5 space, repeat from * end with a sc and sl st to join.

Row 9: Ch 5 (counts as dc, ch2), *sc in the 2dctog skipping the st in between, ch5, repeat from * around circle. When you get to the end, you will only ch2 and end with a dc. sl st to join.

Row 10: ch1, sc in first st, *ch 2, skip to the sc between the ch-5’s and put a 2dctog there. ch2, sc in middle of the ch-5 space, repeat from * end with a sc and sl st to join.

Row 11: ch 1, sc in first st, sc all around putting 2 sc in each ch-2 space, sc in each 2dctog, and sc in each sc BUT out 2sc in lst st,  sl st to join (26 st)

Row 12:  ch 1, sc in first 4 st, ch 15, skip 6 st, sc in next 7 st, ch 15, skip 6 st, sc in next 3 st, sl stitch to join

Row 13: ch 1, sc in each st and 15 sc in the 15 ch spaces working all around. Sl st to join. Fasten off and weave in any ends.

Here is the final product.
