Another small bag -stitch 17

This is another gift bag I completed several months ago, that I am finally getting around to publishing.  Again, I used Premiere cotton yarn – color Flamingo splash (#44-24, lot 2302) and an I hook.

Start out with a magic circle w/ 5sc. Crochet around for 5 rounds increasing in each row. End off each row with a sl st and start with ch 1. You should have 25 st around.

Row 1 and Row 2: ch 1 and sc in each st around. Sl st to join.

Row 3: ch 3 (counts as dc), skip 1st st, dc in each of next 2 st, *ch 1, skip 1 st, dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1, dc in next 5 st, repeat from *, end row with 3dc.

Row 4: ch3 (counts as dc) , skip 1st dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, skip 2 st [dc and ch1 space], dc in next dc, ch 2, skip over ch 1 space and next dc, *dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 2, skip over ch1 space and dc to next dc, dc in that st, ch 2, skip ch1 and dc, repeat from * across until you reach last dc and the turn, dc in each of these 2.

Row 5: ch 6 (counts as dc and ch3), dc in the next dc having skipped over the first dc and the ch 2 space, *ch 3, skip over dc and 2 ch space, dc in next dc, repeat from * across with dc in the turn from the prior row

Row 6: ch 4 (counts as dc ch1), *2 dc in ch 3 space, dc in next dc, 2 dc in ch 3 space, ch 1, dc in next dc, ch 1, repeat from * ending with a single dc in the prior turn.

Row 7: ch 5 (counts as dc ch2), skip first dc, *skip next dc, dc in next 3 dc, ch2, skip ch1 space **, dc in the next dc, ch 2, repeat from * ending at **, dc in 3rd ch of turning chain.

Row 8: repeat row 5

Row 9: repeat row 3

You could repeat rows 4 through 9 to continue the pattern, but I only needed 1 series to reach the height of the jar.

I gave the jar with the gift bag to my friend before I posted this so I could not tell you how I made the handle, but I did.  Here is the final project.
