My sister asked me if I could make one of these for a friend of hers. I thought I would give it a try.
This is done as two parts. First I made the striped beanie using this pattern. The beanie itself was crocheted with a Takumi g hook using Stitch Studio by Nicole yarn Story Lullaby yarn in the color of Sheep White (color 2300). I used this yarn before when I made this blanket. The stripe is Lion Brand Yarn Vanna’s Glamour collection in the metallic gold (color 171) from this pattern.
The size I made for the hat was the baby size. After i finished it and fastened off, i realized that I forgot the last row – I mistakenly fastened off after row 17 and forgot row 18. Once I realize it, I added the extra row. 1 sl st at the start of the row to join the yarn to the existing row and the I crocheted the last row.
Here is a picture of just the hat.
For the beard, I used Bernat Softee Baby yarn in the color Little Mouse, which is the same yarn I used for this project. I made the extra small size beard. Here is the pattern for the beard and a photo of the beard itself.
Here they are attached (and on my fist).
Of course, it turns out that I made it too small. I remade it with the exact same yarn. Using a size I hook (5.5 mm) – I used my hook from Athena’s Elements. The hat was made in the toddler size and the beard was the small size.
Here is how it came out (sitting atop a pound of yarn)
