Hat for a Friend

I recently asked a friend, who is a cancer survivor, if I could make a hat for her. She was agreeable to it. She wanted a red bucket hat. Well, I came across this pattern instead and I thought I would give it a try. The pattern was free on Craftsy.

I used my Athena’s Elements h hook for the hat. The yarn I used was Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice in the color of cranberry (color number 180). For the “hair” I used an aluminum Bates f hook and Caron Simply Soft yarn in the color taupe (color number 9783).

The hat used less than one 100g skein and not a lot of the taupe yarn was used for the hair.

Here are some photos of the final project. I would also like to introduce Gladys, my new model for this project.

(I had not realized that I cut off the top of the hat – you know what it looks like)
