To honor that time of the year…

I decided to make a little gift for my husband in commemorate the upcoming Passover holiday.  Recently, while at a funeral I noticed a crocheted yarmulke and I thought, I could do that – at least I thought I could.

I bought some Aunt Lydia’s Classic 10 crochet thread in the color Dark Royal. I used a 1.5 mm Boye hook (that was part of a set that by husband got for me from a friend). The pattern that I used came from Ravelry. It was a free pattern. It is important that, if you decide to make this pattern that you also review this for some corrections to the pattern. I found the directions in the pattern a bit confusing for making the treble cross stitch (CrTr). I found easier to understand instructions here.

I could not understand the instructions for the end of rows 10, 11, and 12 so I had to improvise a bit by making the last CrTR and then sl st to the initial ch 5. I could not, for the life of me, figure out those directions. I then started the next row with a ch 4 and Tr before starting the CrTr.

Here are some shots of the final project, pinned to Gladys’ head to hold it and block it a bit. There is also a close-up of the star pattern within the design.
