I am a bit behind on making gift bags to returned the various jars that have been given to me by friends and family who can foods. I have to make 6, so expect to see projects like this for a while (until I take a break).
To make this gift bag, I used the Lily’s Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn in the color Jewels (No. 00201) which I have used before. It is recommended that one use a 5 mm (H hook) with this yarn
I tried to make this one a bit differently than my usual gift bags, so bear with these instructions.
magic circle with 8 dc. Sl st to join.
Row 1: ch 1. In back loop only, 2sc in each st all around (16 st), sl st to join.
Row 2: ch 3 (counts as dc). In back loop only, *2dc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * all around (24 st), sl st to join.
Row 3:-5 ch 1. In back loop only, sc in each st. (24 st), sl st to join.
Now for the pattern:
Row 6: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 2 st, ch 3, *skip 3 st, dc in next 3 st, ch 3, repeat from *, sl st to join.
Row 7: (ch 1), sc in 1st 3 st, ch 3 (which will be over the ch 3 space) skip over the ch-3 space, *sc in next 3 st, ch 3, skip over ch-3 space, repeat from *, sl st to join.
Row 8: repeat row 7.
Rows: 9 -14: repeat rows 6-8 twice.
Row 15: ch 1. In back loop only, sc in each st and 3 sc in each ch-3 space (24 st), sl st to join.
Row 16: ch 1. In both loops, sc in first 3 st, ch 1, make an 18 st chainless foundation just like the one in this project (coincidentally with the same yarn). Skip 9 st. sc in next 3 sc, make another 18 st chainless foundation, skip 9 st, sl st the handle to the base of the initial st in the round and then sl st it to the usual stitch into which you would sl st to end the round.
Here is the final product.
