A Simple 6

I am trying to catch up on making gift bags. I still have a few more jars to return. This one uses pattern number 6 and some left over Premier Home Cotton Yarn Number 44-23 which is Violet Splash. I used this same yarn for this project.  I used my 5.5 mm hook (I/9) from my Athena’s Elements.

Start with a magic circle with 5 sc in it.

Increase each row until you have 25 sc around.

Row 1: Sc in each st around. Sl st to join. (25 sc)

Row 2: Sc in each st around. Sl st to join. (25 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in 1st st. *chain 5, skip 3 st, sc in next st. ch 3, sc in next st. Repeat from *, you will end with sc in the last st around (after the ch 5, not the ch 3), sl st to join with first st.

Row 4: Ch 5 (counts as dc ch2 – I put a stitch marker in the 3rd st), *sc in middle of ch-5 space, chain 5, repeat from *. You will end with a sc in the last ch-5 space, then ch 2 and dc in final sc. sl st to join.

Row 5: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, ch 3, *2 sc in ch 5 space, chain 3, repeat from *, end with sc in the 3rd st of the ch 5 from the prior row (where I had the stitch marker)

Row 6: Ch 1, sc in 1st st, sc around the entire row putting 3 sc in each ch 3 space. (25 sc). sl st to join.

Rows 7-10: repeat rows 3 through 6.

Row 11: Ch 1, make a foundation chain of 18 stitches, skip 6, sc in 7th st, sl st in next 5 st, Ch 1, make a foundation chain of 18 stitches, skip 6, sc in 7th st, sl st to start. Fasten off.

A shot of the final project.

Only one of the handles is visible – I did make 2 handles. The pattern was a bit too tall for this jar. oh well.
