Something Somewhat Seasonal

Halloween was always one of my favorite holidays. I thought I would try to craft something that can be used for an annual Halloween decoration. I thought I would try to make a spider web out of cotton yarn and then hang it on the bannister to my front steps as part of our Halloween decorations in October.

I found this great video to make a large spider web. I used Lily Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn in the color white.  In the video, the instructor uses a different yarn and steps down the hook a few sizes. I decided to follow suit. Usually this yarn would require a 5 mm hook. I took it down to a 4 mm hook (G hook).

Here is what the final product looked like before it was hung up – it measured almost 4 feet across without including the extra strands.

I tied it to our front bannister and I added a store-bought spider (Thank you AC Moore for 60% off Halloween decorations).  I also picked up a small toy that I wrapped in more cotton yarn and tied him to the web as the spider’s victim.
